Quote: People always complain about they can do NOTHING for the first 2 years because they have to train skills, but that is simply not true. If you worry about the veterans and their high skill amounts. I mean dont bother about that. Even if you wait 2 years to get some skills, they will still be 2 years ahead skill wise.
I was just amused that I'm supposed to experience great new features in 5 days. The bits I think are new (as far as I remember) seem to way beyond anything I could experience in 5 days, unless you were a long standing player at the time you last quit. The only new feature I have experienced is the character creation, which in terms if enticing players into the game (and that is what they are trying to do) seems to be a step backward.
Digressing a bit but..
I'm not complaining about doing nothing for 2 years (not sure where that came from, I can successfully grind missions for standing from day 1, they are just utterly boring and easy), nor am I bothered about a skills race, and quite like the fact that those who have been playing longest will always be 'better' than those who can simply pile on the hours/day to catch up.
Goals, I enjoy having goals to work towards. Another feature I don't remember (not to say it is new, it may just be something I never took any notice of) is the loyalty point store. Straight away I saw a goal to aim for (oooh nice shiny navy ship). Even though all MMO missions ultimatley decompose into combinations of 'go to X, kill Y, bring back Z', Some MMOs make it fun, some make it a horrible grind. After 40+ missions that were neither unique, interesting nor challenging it certainly appears that otaining my goal is going to be the horrible grindy version. I can handle waiting 6 months, 1 year or whatever it will be as I work towards the goal, it isn't the time factor, but the tedium factor that the time will be. That is what is eluding me, how to obtain your goal in a way that doesn't put you off wanting to log in and play some more for that 6 months/1 year or whatever.
Maybe Eve isn't a game for me, a lot of what I hear makes it sounds like I will enjoy it, but I just can't seem to get into it when I try.
